About littleum

My husband and I just purchased our first home this spring. It is zero lot line, which presents some very interesting landscaping/gardening challenges, in addition to the unforgiving central Texas summer heat.

Historically I've had a totally brown thumb, even though I have always loved growing things (or trying to...) But I've decided to give it a whirl or else our yard will continue to look like the unkept amazon. My husband wanted to either leave it or just hire a yard service. I'm the kind of person who prefers to do for herself if possible... so here I am. Digging in the dirt.

I've had quite the crash course so far. I recently have learned the absolute necessity of mulch. :P

Proud to report that so far I haven't managed to kill ANYTHING! And, actually, I managed to save the native roses (who were in sorry, sorry shape) and my container vegetables are threatening to provide a harvest. I actually have found I quite like tending roses and want to rip up all our privacy shrubs next year and replace them with roses. ;)
