in the garden today. Yesterday they were not there. My mama Hollyhock is blooming again, she is so pretty. The wind was so bad one day I had to put a string around her and tie her to the Clematis post. Then there is the all new and beautiful Black hollyhock. I am so glad this little lady stuck it out and decided she liked my gardens.
The old ditch lilies are beginning to bloom. Early summer is such a great time of year. Some hot days some not so hot and the plants just love it. We have had a bit of rain off and on which helps give the flowers a better attitude about endowing me with their colorful blossoms.
It looks as if all my lilies are going to have blooms at the same time. Has been a long time since that has happened. More often than not some bloom then others begin. Am looking forward to seeing them in a couple of weeks.
My blueberries are doing pretty good. One is full of berries. And the strawberries are trying their best to keep up with the blues. Since the birds can eat as many berries as I can the plants had to be covered with some bird netting. Now that I have it in place I am concerned the birds might actually get caught up in that stuff. It is something else to work with especially since the wind decided to blow this afternoon.
While at my sons house one day recently, he told me they had seen that something was eating on some of the plants. Then that morning he looked out and two bunnies were on the deck (some three feet plus off the ground) eating on the old tulip leaves. There is a lot behind him that has been allowed to grow up and the owner has junk and more junk out there. He is a fairly well know man around town and he will work with the people that live around any of his properties. He has said he will allow my son to cut down a few of the reseeding tree/weeds and pay half on a fence to be put up on my sons side of the chainlink fence. So there is one more project for this son who loves to enlist his brothers help on a dimes notice. They have been establishing such a good relationship this past year. Wonderful to see them side by side as young adults. They don't know it but they are just beginning their lives and I so treasure being here to watch the process.
