I've dashed through all of my housework and done all the things that must be done. I've been up since 3 a.m. That's about the only time that I have to do what must get done. We found Frinkles, my Speckled Sussex, the sweetest bird that we have ever had, dead in the nest this morning. Oh, that's just what we needed. I suppose that the weeds have taken over the place. Maybe I can do a walkabout this afternoon, but by the time we get back home, we're too pooped to work. I must close up now and get dressed. As Bill says, happy gardening.

Aw, Witt, this is not a good period for you! You keep having "chicken woes". Your chickens sound so pretty, speckled and freckled and fluffy and all! We always had plain old white ones. Every now and then we'd have a speckled one, or a red one, but not often. |

So sorry to hear about your sweet bird. We too just had big white ones when I was growing up. And a nasty bigger rooster to go with them! My heart goes out to you. |
