I am wondering if these are tulips. And if so what kind? There are ALOT of them growing in the tree line between us and the neighbor. My daughter listened to me describe them, she said maybe they are jumping jacks? Bit by bit things are slowly starting to bud here. Almost all the water in our yard is gone. Night time is still in the lower 40's or so, and the breezes in the day are cool too. But.....over all.....spring is on it's way baby!

The good is that spring is FINALLY on it's way here. I have some shrubs and bushes starting to bud. I think a few of them are lilac bushes. I am so excited! I also found out today that I am going to have a greenhouse! Courtesy of my wonderful neighbor.
The bad is that although we have early spring weather and temps, it is going to snow.....again! Only supposed to get 3-6 inches. I figure it will be here and gone pretty quick. The back of our first acre is flooded already. The new snow will flood it a bit more. But hey!.....it won't last long. Gotta have high hopes!
The ugly is the pics I am posting on this blog. They are the before pics of a few places in our yard. What a mess! My labor of love will get things in shape. I will keep things updated with pics of our progress. It will be a slow progress as this yard has nothing done to it.

I'm sitting here blushing. It never even occured to me that it was the small pic. Here is another pic from our latest snow. Winter doesn't want to loosen it's grip here. I am GREEN with envy for all you folks who live in warmer climes and always seem to have a little something going on in their gardens. I keep a saying from Hal Borland in my mind to get me through until spring. No winter lasts forever, no spring skips it's turn. Seems to be my mantra lately. I have more winter pics in my album. Guess it's a snow garden!

bsmitch you are the greatest if this test pic works! Although I am afraid it might be small? I am new to blogs and posting pics in them. The whole process is frustrating for me right now and LORD this should be easier!

I have a decent sized tree stump measuring 2-1/2'across by 2' high. What type of plant put in the ground against it would grow well, up and on it without completely taking it over with minimal cutting back? Or would it be a good idea to chop out the center and fill it with dirt to plant something in there like a planter?
