Tillandsia usneoides
Family: Bromeliaceae (bromeliad or pineapple Family)
Tillandsia are epiphytes and need no soil because water and nutrients are absorbed through the leaves. The roots are used as anchors only.

I visited Louisiana for the first time Jan 07 and my daughter's mother-in-law took me to where I could gather some Spanish moss for wreath-making. I was quite taken with the sense of "atmosphere" Spanish moss brings to the south - its a whole 'nother world from NW IN!.
