About taybo

I always wanted to work with flowers since I was a little girl. In the end, I settled for that boring office job.  When I built my house seven years ago, I started experimenting with gardening. It was a brand new neighbourhood with barely a tree. The gras was rolled out on top of a layer of sand and a layer of soil. Underneath: pure shale. It was very difficult to plant anything there. My gardening tool was a pick axe. Then I just decided to pile the soil up high so I would be able to grow something, as I know plants don't grow through shale. It turned out very nice as I also added lots of rocks to the garden. I replaced the awful lawn, which really didn't have a chance from the beginning, with clover. It always looks green and it feels nice to walk on (as long as you cut it every week and don't let it get too long). I was given a lot of little plants by neighbours and friends and that is how my garden started out. Now everything is very mature and growing back nicely every year. The little trees have grown big and the plants have spread and I really should seperate them and thin them out, but I have a hard time with that. I don't like cutting away at them and moving them around. Kind of silly, I know. I really need to learn to dvide them without damaging them and then figure out who to give them to. I can't just throw them out. I also added a lovely birdbath to the garden and there is a lot of traffic around it, especially early in the morning. And the yellow warbler couple stops by every once in a while to pick some material from my coconut lined flowerbox which I think they need to build their nest. Because of the honeysuckle plant, I also get a lot of hummingbirds which hover by the kitchen window. My oasis in the City! I really love gardening and just watching things grow and evolve, I guess and I will always regret not making flowers my profession. I will upload some more photos of my garden as time goes on and hope that you will like them. I would like my next challenge to be growing and harvesting herbs....some time down the road.
