I was coming in from watering the plants last night and my favorite wild rabbit was in the yard and I spooked her as I was going toward the back steps to the door. She stopped in the middle of the yard and watched me. I apologized to her very softly and made my way up the steps. I stopped to look down at the place where she had come from because I had recently put down some newspaper and dirt to smother the grass in that area and I wondered why she would go to a dirt area when she had been eating the winter rye grass that was growing all over the yard. I saw some squirming little bodies, it looked like four, but it could have been two, baby bunnies. I quickly went into the house and told the cats (they are indoor cats so they don't really care). I can't believe she picked my yard to have her babies in. I hope they all survive.

I hope they don't get too hungry and eat up all your plants. You might not have a problem if the indoor cats were outdoor cats. hahaha Maybe you can get a picture of the babies. |

Isn't it funny how we think baby bunnies and squirrels are cute, then want to destroy them when they start to damage our gardens? I see it as "they were here first, so why should I get mad at them for doing what they do?" Do take pictures please- I love bunnies (and the squirrels and deer) |

How sweet!!! Maybe you could find some way to secretly provide them with some food :) I'm really unhappy with the rabbits, chipmunks, and squirells in my yard that are getting at my garden -- BUT -- I'm going today to the pet store and the grocery store and I intend to make them their own little private buffet, hopefully to lure them away from my garden. I've also made my mixture of the soap/lysterine that will hopefully turn them away from my garden. |
