These are the local parrots that browse around my garden - rosellas. I've been trying to plant Australian flowering shrubs to encourage the local birds to visit - have been warned about building a bird feeder full of unhealthy junk food!

There are a few types of parrots/pigeons that visit here. I'll try to catch them on film in the future.

Birds can get lazy and only eat from feeders, teaching their babies to eat from feeders instead of finding food. If the birds becomes dependent on the food that is given them and can't be fed for awhile (e.g. the person feeding them goes on a holiday) they may die without it. Feeders usually encourage some species to dominate and you lose bird diversity in the garden. People often put out the seeds that attract the most birds rather than the healthiest, and those seeds could make them sick or are like junk food for them.
