it was a weird morning, cool and drizzly. we got the jimmy its tune-up today. its such a hard, frustrating machine to service. i dont have the right tools to do a simple tune up! oh well, id rather pay someone else to do it than have the busted knuckles and head ache... the garden is doing great. it likes the warm weather. my beans have sprouted; the mayflowers, cherokees and soy beans. its exciting! i planted the six cayenne peppers i baught at ace, the bell peppers are going in tommarrow. i have to get everything in the ground by next week cuz school starts on tuesday. yep.

yes, it just skipped spring all together here. no rain and all the sudden its 100 degrees! our driverside window on the jimmy is broken in the "rolled up" position. mary dropped the glass down inside the door to relieve some of the sweaty dispare in our awsome mountain ride. i guess its better than missing one door! i went into the woods today w/ mary to let the dogs go swimming. it was so hot i wanted to jump in myself, but the river is still freezing. i brought a bag and my rake and collected pine needles to put around my plants in the garden. free mulch, but i feel bad for taking it from the woods. also, the pumpkins have sprouted. sweet! my dad gave me some of those pots that you hang a tomato plant in and the plant hangs over and droops down insted of staking them up. i wonder how that will werk out?

Today i finaly got out to the garden. this last week seemed really buisy w/ werk and other adventures. yesterday, mary and i took the dogs out passed Mc Cloud to see Medician Lake. we didnt make it all the way out there cuz the road is still covered in snow. insted we stopped off to see Jot Dean Ice Cave on the way back. it is a lava tube that collapsed and has icycles dripping from the ceiling. all around the cave is like some acient lava flow feild. weird pot holes and swirlly rocks. i brought back some lava rocks for the crabs. they love them. i posted pictures for ya'all to see. it was a fun day trip, next time we'll make it see the lake!
so, today i got up early (at 10) and flew out into the garden. i spent all afternoon out there. i transplanted my wormwood i got in redding last week. it was hella root bound. i also planted some shasta daiseys the nieghbor across the street gave me. i had to weed the crap outta the bed left over from last year. amazingly my oregano survived the winter and grew back. i found it in the weeds! i made this weird triangular wigwam thing w/ long sticks and strings for my cherokee beans to climb up. then i planted the bean, of course. i finally replanted my pumpkins and some sunflowers. tommarrow iam going to plant the rest of the pole beans and the soy beans. yeah, i like playing in the dirt!
my arm hurts so bad from pulling weeds. it feels like a bionic arm made w/ hydrualic lift supports and sharp, tine like fingers. it looks like #5's arm from Short Curcut.

the weather is finally warming up. i planted a row of carrots, leeks and beets. who knows if they will come up with the cats and all, they did ok last year though. the tomatoe seedlings arnt doing too good. i have four hill billy tomatoes and had to buy six mr. strippys. the canning must go on eventhough iam not so good w/ seedlings yet. along w/ the tomatoes i purchased some marigolds and this other kind of flower (i cant remember the name) but i have one and it grew back from last year. that was cool. the 'matoes are going into the ground tommarrow. yep.

4/20 old man winter srikes again. my pumpkins are dead. i planted too early, as usual. of the four hills, two of them lived. one of the second generation and one of the first. i put up the wall of waters on those and ripped up the dead bodies of the others. they had been planed out side on 4/12. shouldv'e waited but its tourchure. i guess i'll start new ones today. good thing i didnt buy the whole damn plant, two bucks for a seed pack is worth it when you dont know the area your gardening in. the mountains are tricky. redding was easyier. they're nights are in the fifties now!
