About pyoung

I live in south west Louisiana, south of Lake Charles in Cameron Parish.  Cameron Parish is the largest parish in Louisiana but it is the least populated.  You can salt water fish, catch crabs and shrimp on one side of the road and fresh water fish for bass and or brim on the other.

I love to work in my yard and plant a vegetable garden.  I have recently begun to try and grow flowers!  I have 4 pecan trees and last fall made 5 pillow cases full of paper shell pecans.  I also have a Satsuma tree that was loaded last fall and I also lost a Satsuma tree due to Hurricane Rita, I have a lemon tree and a Louisiana sweet.  I have a large fig tree.  In my spare time I also enjoy to fish, (love to perch jerk) to hunt both deer and ducks, and to go camping.

My career path has changed a few times over the course of my life.  I worked 6 years in construction doing instrument fitter work; I worked 13 years as a deputy sheriff. I then changed paths again and went into the oil and gas industry where I have worked the last 11+ as a control room operator.

I have been married for 24 years to the same woman and have two sons.  One is 20 and is working as a deputy; the other is 18 and is a senior in high school.

We just put in some new flower beds in our front yard.  Sprinkler system and all!  Country has come to town.

Carolyncat is my sister.  Don't hold that against her she tried to raise me better.  LOL.

Taking it easy
We have been taking it easy around my house, just keeping the potted plants and flower beds watered.  I did not plant a fall garden and from what I observed I won’t be harvesting any pecans this fall either.  The trees did have some on them before hu...

Still kicking after Ike!
Well folks I am still kicking.  We did not suffer much damage at my house at all for Ike.  A few shingles missing from my shed and a couple branches broken out of the oak trees and two branches off one of my crape myrtle trees.  I wish I could say th...
