My husband brought home his saw from work. He had a wood blade and we used that cut down some small trees that I hadn't been able to pull out of the ground. It was so exciting. It totally made a difference in the bed. So much cleaner now.
It's strange to feel bad for cutting down small trees, but I do. I wish I could gift them away but I had so many coming up everywhere that it wouldn't be possible. I have been able to give a few of the bigger ones away though so that was good.
When I first started cleaning out the flower bed, it had been neglected for so long that the ground was covered with so many small trees that at first I actually thought it was ground cover. That was a chore, pulling up tree after tree after tree. The end result was worth it though.
I have just a few more things to plant this year. I wonder if they will come up and bloom or just come up? I am so new to gardening that I'm not versed in the ways of plants. I do want to get the roots in the ground as I feel they'll definatly have a better chance in the ground then in baggies with dirt. I guess we'll know soon.
Last night I also cleared out more of my Iris for a man at work. He said he wanted some, so I brought him 2 full bags. Funny thing is, it didn't really make a dent in the area I'm trying to clear out. I'm trying hard though because I want to be able to get the garden site ready. I think I have enough time to still plant a few more vegetables. Better do some research.
