Well I have spent the last week weeding, mulching and laying out some paths. Still so much more to do but I am loving the warm weather and even the sore muscles haven't seemed to slow me down...LOL Thought I'd share some shots of whats bloomin now:

I stopped by the Home Depot this morning to get some wood to start on some new bird houses this week! I will definately get some photos to share. I think these will be a great way to participate in National Wildlife Week as well as Earth day!

Was a beautiful morning to get out in the garden and get dirty! Of course I had my cup of coffee in the Habitat first and was able to get a shot of a feathered friend having some breakfast!
I fill this feeder about every other day. I have quite a few of these guys visit as well as some cardinals and yesterday
A red capped wood pecker stopped by.
I spent most of the day running the weed whacker, digging and just really sweating!!!! But like most gardeners it really didn't seem like work because I truly enjoyed every minute of it.
Here is a photo of a new area I am working on in my habitat.... The magnolia tree is existing and I have added a parsley leaf Hawthorne, hostas, and a hummmingbird feeder. Still more plants to add but I ran of of daylight!
It is a nice shady spot, the trees in the back are Cedars. I have a few ferns I'll be putting in, and I am going to make a leaf shaped water bowl. I found this in idea as well as the directions to in the Fine Gardening magazine. I also want to add some color by placing a few colored glass balls.
Last but not least for the day here is one of my new planters!
It is in between my two cold frames where I currently have some Oakleaf Hydrangea cuttings rooting.
It has potato vine (lime & varieated, scented geranium, and Lantana.
Well I hope you all had as much fun in the garden yesterday as I did!

I had to share this beautiful Luna Moth! In all my years of gardening I have to admit this is a first for me! I have seen many types of butterflies, birds, and all sorts of bugs. But what a treat to have this visitor stop by my new Habitat Garden. Its a shame they have such short lives!
Here is my first Tiger Swallowtail for the spring season. He seemed to love the new native bottlebrush buckeye
that I recenty planted.

As an avid gardener with a passion for many plants I am also passionate about my backyard habitat.
I have always been sure to incorporate the elements needed for our wildlife friends. This year I have Certified my yard as a Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation.
It feels wonderful to have a part in preserving Natures beauty. I have so many birds that come to visit, I truly think some stay on a permanent basis! I have been fortunate enough to get a few shots of some early spring butterflies and a beautiful Luna Moth! I will try to post photos as often as I can.
I am hoping to meet other Habitat gardeners so that we may share some gardening tips, ideas and photos.
