Finally! ! ! I have been trying to capture a picture of the parents, feeding their young in our birdhouse. I hear them all day long, but the minute I get as close as I can . . . they stop. Plus working with a digital is hard because I can't hold it still and my eyesight just ain't what it use to be. But I crouched down behind a foot stool and got the shot I've been waiting for. Not as clear as I would like, but good enough. You can even see the babies mouth open inside the house. I almost had a Monarch feeding on my coneflower, but as soon as I snapped it the butterfly flew, so all I got was a nice shot of the coneflower.

Well, back to reading before the sun gets too hot on the back porch. I finished my outside work early this morning knowing it was going to be a hot one today. The humidity is low so the 90 degrees isn't as bad as it can be.

I do have a little trouble with it and you have to be quick, so sometimes it's frustrating when working with creatures, but when you get a good shot, it's worth it. The cardinal picked a perfect spot on my neighbors fence with the pine in the background to rest for a second.

Just yesterday I was trying to capture a bee on the lavender and a hummer at the morning glory, I don't think I had too much luck though! Plus, I never have my camera ready when there's activity in the yard. I'm going to start gardening with it around my neck - haha! There may be a mode on your camera that takes pictures at a quicker pace, for action shots, it allows you to take many shots in a short time frame. It's best for outside since mine doesn't use the flash when it's in this mode. I used to get very discouraged with my digital, it takes wonderful shots, but it takes so long to "warm up" or whatever after taking a picture. So, I've upgraded to a professional camera, I love it but it has so many buttons and features!

It's my daughter's and I should ask her for the directions so I can figure out all these buttons and maybe I wouldn't have to delete so many. I know there is an action mode, so I will give that a try, especially for the birds and butterflies. Thanks for the hint.
splummer	Jul 13, 2007 \| 7:03 AM PST I have a digital camera, too. Mine is a cheap one from K-Mart. It takes good pictures of things sitting or standing still, but if it moves, forget it. The picture is nothing but a blur. I get really frustrated when I really wanted a picture of something and I get fuzz. And the time it takes between pictures is too long sometimes. You miss lots of good shots that way. Just wanted to add my two cents worth. LOL
mysteryluvr54	Jul 13, 2007 \| 7:14 AM PST I hear ya. Flowers. . . good. Animals & insects. . . ???? As you can tell by the bird house pictures. I kept trying to get a shot of the baby eating when the parent came but between my trying to hold the camera still in the excitement and them being so quick, well you see what happens. Its a challenge and it's made me more aware of nature and its ways.
