Started my morning off by clipping pictures out of my magazines (Organic Gardening & Better Homes and Gardens) for an art project (summer collage) for the tots art classes I teach. Once sufficiently caffinated, I tackled the bushes on the south side of the house that were in the shade and along the back (west) side of the house finishing up with the raspberry bushes on the north side. There are a few more bushes that are in the sun (91 degrees today) that I need to trim and all then the trimming will be done for the summer. I usually cut the bushes way back around this time so they don't get too overgrown. I like to keep things fairly small.
I think I've pulled every weed out of the lawn for now. I enjoy watching the birds, rabbits, squirrels and whatever else is nibbling and knowing that I don't use any chemicals to harm them. It may be a lot of work, but to me it's worth it and it make me sad to see neighbors pouring chemicals on their perfectly manicured, weed-free, green lawns. And we wonder why the birds & bees are disappearing. I don't even waste our water trying to keep it green. I let Mother Nature take it's course and it keeps on coming back year after year. We could really use a nice rain again.
I think something must be getting into my garden because the little carrot greens are disappearing. Hmmm! Could it be a wabbit? I checked the fencing and it seemed secure. I'll have to keep a close eye out for a critter. Had to add 2 more strings across the row of peas for them to climb up on. I also noticed a darker orange lilly opening, so I took a picture and added it to my album.
