Not much I can do outdoors right now but sit and daydream about being outdoors, so I am thinking getting my seeds going would be something to get me started I am keeping it simple this year growing what I need the most of and the money I save I will use for the new and interesting things I find at the garden centers.plus I will need a couple of new trellises this year for the side of the garage for the clematis I planted after the fire I am going to revamp that area I think this year . I have geraniums picked out and will grow several flats of them for my planters, window boxes, and such plus I want to try them this year as a border plant in in my front garden for sure. I have found the double impatiens in white but finding softer shades of pinks only seems to be difficult I will search online and perhaps I might pop out for a bit today and see what I can find at a couple of the nurseries in town, and this weekend get planting :-) I have to admit the thoughts of having flats of seedlings on the go makes me smile!

Do you wintersow, Karyn? February is the month to start winter-sown seeds, from what I've read. |

yes I will sow flats of seeds indoors. but nothing can be sown here outdoors untill late March or early April if we have mother nature on our side I have seen us have winter storms late in April But yes indoors I hope get started this weekend Last edited by karynthegarden on January 29th at 7:11 AM. |

I never understood what the term wintersow meant, but these posts clear it up for me. We just referred to it as starting seed indoors early at a specific time before last frost. I just received my free seeds from WinterSown.org and it still didn't register in my brain. But now it makes perfect sense - what a dingdong I am lol Not sure if you all know but if you send a self addressed stamped envelope to this organization, they will send you free seeds to "wintersow" I received 7 different packettes last week. I love wintersowing. I have about eight containers started. Plan to do a few more this weekend. |

Thanks for the info about wintersown.org, Debstr. I just put my SASEs in the mail today. I am going to post this on the seed exchange forum to make sure anyone who's interested knows about it. I hope you don't mind. :) I just think it's such a great offer!! |
