Been Awhile
Jan 26, 2008 | 4:54 PM PST
Its been while since I was here and I had forgotten what a neat site this is We had a bit of a mishap........ to put it mildly. Last May we lost our garage and everything in it including my car due to a fire So this past year has been about rebuilding and since my husband took the job on himself its been a long haul ,but we are nearly there . Some areas of my garden near the garage suffered but by late summer most had returned although some shrubs and plants were lost for good . Luckly though no one was hurt and the house was fine . So its January and I find myself dreaming of my garden and looking forward to spring. I plan to dust off my grow stand and prep my trays and pots so I can get started I want to grow geraniums and impatiens as I found myself buying them alot at the nurseries last year I will also grow my usual double petunias as they have become a favorite of mine. I would like to have things underway by the end of the month. My potting shed worked out well for harding off my seedlings last season, once I put them in the shed that is where they stayed untill I was ready to plant them out it was great not having to move them in and out all the time. Speaking of the shed it was remarkable that it was not damaged at all buy the fire not even by the heat :-) which is amazing since it stands so close to the garage. I will post some pictures of the changes we made to the side fence We opened it up by putting in a gate and a flag stone pathway leading to the back yard Once the rose and clematis grows over the gateway it should be nice . Till next time :-)
