About karynthegarden
I have been gardening for about 10 years learning as I go. I feel you are never done in the garden that it is an on going process changing and growing as you do as a gardener. I have had a very small townhouse garden where I dreamed of having more space to a very large country garden where I couldnt keep up, I have found the middle of the road works best for me. This is the third year for this garden. When we purchased this property there was no garden only over grown trees 3 of which we had to cut down , an ugly shed that I could not stand up in and a car parked on the lawn. the front of the house had the usual boring foundation plantings and the lawn slopped down to the sidewalk. So we had plenty do do. One of the biggest jobs was moving most of my garden from the country here. Everywhere pots and bags of plants and shrubs needing to be planted believe me I didnt know where to begin. I started by digging beds around the foundation of the house and garage and the fence line. What turned out to be one of the best areas in our garden is under the maples . After we cleared them out some I just followed the shade line below them, this is now a nice place to sit and relax out of the sun. In the front I dug up the lawn where it slopped down to the sidewalk ,my husband work very hard putting all the rock in place for me and with the extra stone he made a patio in our back garden Now I am attempting my hand at a rock garden which is new for me. All winter I dream and plot and by spring we have a new plan lol , or at least I do .Last Year I had dreams of a potting shed. So with very little cash old windows from the habitat and odds and sods of items that we had saved and collected over the years like the cast iron sink and old victorian ceiling tiles which we laid down over the plywood as a floor, we built our shed. We purchased some of the wood needed but most was recycled and we bought clear plexy glass for roofing which gives the shed a green house feeling inside. The shed is rustic and funky we use it often and love it. This year I am dreaming of a deck off the back of our house and I want to work on the area at the side of my house which needs help! and I would also like to paint the outside of the shed... I am a wife ,mother of 3 ,and nana of 1.
