It's raining today so nature has forced me to take a break.
I guess thats a good thing. I have been working nonstop trying to get as much done as possible. I know once it gets to hot I'll get lazy and stay inside. So I'm taking full advantage of this gorgeous spring weather.
Yesterday Alyssa and I planted some lily of the valley and coral bells in our garden. Yes, I know they are invasive. However it's such a shady spot plus it's where most of my bird feeders are... so tons of sunflower hulls. So it's hard to get things to grow back there. So it will actually be nice if the lily of the valley spread and take over that whole spot. It'll be prettier than the stubborn weeds that like to grow there. ;o)
We also have been working hard this week taking up our ponds. One of them has sprung a leak so needed work. And the others just needed some major attention. So Since they needed work anyways.. this seemed like the perfect time to take them up and move them. They are now all dug up and ready to be set up again. I plan to move them to a different part of the yard. I have a new design and think it'll look GREAT! Plus this moves it to a more prominent part of the yard. So it'll get more attention and use. Before it was close to the neighbors who hate us. So it was less than calming to go and sit by the pond. Even though we have a big privacy fence the neighbors still liked to *bug* us. *sigh* some people never grow up... anyways..
I have a bad habit of trying to do to much at once. So now I'm trying to work on the ponds AND the fence. Because where I want to put the ponds involve moving the fence. When we first put up our fence we left a nearly 5 ft walk way between us and the neighbors (other side, we actually like these neighbors) The fence is looking kinda crooked so it needs to be fixed. Well since we have to take it up and fix it anyways :o) I want to go ahead and scoot it closer to the neighbors fence. That would allow me more room inside the fence. Plus give me more room to grow. It would add 4 feet in depth to my veggie garden. Plus room to put in my pond over there and still have room to open the gate to drive in if we need to. As I said to much at once. :o) I have to do more than 1 project at a time in order to get my first project done LOL. Oh and the spot where we moved the ponds from will now become "a childs paradise" At least that's what Alyssa is calling it. We will be moving her swing set and tether ball into that area. The neighbors wont bother her, it's me they like to bug. Again this is a 2 fold project as well.... moving the swing set and tether ball will give me more lawn space. LOL! So to recount I have 4 projects wrapped into one :o) 1. dig up and move the ponds 2. take down and move the fence 3. set up the pond in the new area PLUS till the additional 4 ft x 30ft for the garden 4. move the swingset and tether ball from the yard into the "childs paradise" garden spot.
Whew, no wonder I'm tired. Guess I owe the rain a thank you! ;o)
