Sorry haven't been around

Had bad weather, got my garden growing, not like usual. We had a considerate amount of rain this year plus the cooler temps. Didn't plant my garden till mid June. All my plants from seed were root bound by the time I planted them. I'm lucky I live up hill considering my neighbors house is still in the water, his garden is a swamp now. FEMA might give him some help. This last whole year we broke the records for rainfall, plus alot of snow. I live on a lake with out an outlet, don't know how high the water can rise, 3 feet my garden will be submerged. The lake came up four and a half feet last year. The rains are missing us right now, we'll keep praying. I planted Basil and Parsley this year for the first time, would appreciate info on how to harvest and store for the winter. My tomatoes, brocolli,brussel sprouts and especially mustard-spinach are doing good. Beans, cucs, peppers, squash, carrots, peas, cantelope and eggpant aren't looking the best this year. All the moisture makes differen't plants grow different, although the weeds are doing fine. Happy Gardening Folks!!!

You have had too much, I haven't got enough! that seems to be the story this year for rain around the country! Trim of entire stems from the parsley and basil- hang upside down in a cool dark place. I put mine in paper bags in my closet. Put holes in the bags for airflow. When completely dry store in air-tight containers. |
