Well, the frost got my granson's pumpkin seedlings! It was my fault, I jumped the gun and we set them out, and you guessed it, Jack Frost came a calling. I could have cried, but good old Matt just looked up at the sky and said
"Don't be sad grannylee, theres still time to replant.If this weather warms up some!"He kills me with his little farmer ways. Here I was worrying all day that he would be upset when he got off the school bus yesterday! Children absolutly humble me with their faith and goodness.

That's a very special (grand)child you have there, grannylee. Plenty of other children would have been bitterly disappointed. Heck, plenty of ADULTS would be disappointed. Last edited by stereoman on April 17th at 5:02 AM. |

It bothers me to remind you of the advice I've given several times to many members about frost damage. When the conditions are right for frost in the morning,clear sky and predicted cold temperature, set your alarm to 6:30 am and go out and sprinkle cold water on the plants that have frost on them before the sun hits them. Sorry about the pumpkins, but when it warms up a bit, the new seeds will practically jump out of the ground. |

I am always impressed with the closeness of your family. It is truly a wonderful thing to be able to teach a grandchild and see them use all the wonders of the earth as a rule for living. Linda B |

Your grandson sounds like an awesome little man. It is so great you have someone to share your love of gardening. He'll learn a lot by experiencing all the garden "highs" and "lows". Hope you have gigantic pumpkins when you re-grow them! |
