The following was posted under "Greenhouses and Coldframes" without any response. So I thought more eyes might read it here:
My sweet husband is building a plant room (11x12) for me in our garage. He asked me if he could vent our laundy room via ducting & fan into the new room....hmmmm I have no experience with personal greenhouses. While this isn't an acutal greenhouse, it will be set up similarly. What do you all think of his idea? We had an egress window installed and should probably add an outside vent as well, but what about the humidity coming in from the dryer?

The humidity should not present a problem-Most plants love the humidity. You will have a 'lint' problem from the vent-though maybe not too bad. I didn't got to your profile, so I don't know what part of the country you're in-Constant moisture in the room may present a problem-How much laundry do you do? A vent to the outside couldn't hurt. Is this vent coming directly from the dryer, or just the laundry room?

Seems to me to be a good idea. Like cat said, that is if you don't do laundry everyday. That might be a bit much, but otherwise, the plants would probably love it.

We had the bright idea of venting our dryer inside in order to capture heat and humidity, but we forgot about the lint that manages to escape the lint trap. It's not fun to clean up.

I second that about the lint being a major pain. Yeah the lint trap is there, but a ton does escape over a fairly quick period of time and it is not nice to clean up and it will cover everything!

Well that was an easy decision...THANKS ALL. The idea just didn't sound right, I knew I was missing something. I do enough laundry that it would be a mess, even with exceptional filters. Thanks again.~Andrea

FYI-My mistake-what I was missing was that DH was thinking of venting the humid air from the laundry room into my plant room NOT the dryer vent......Missed that-sorry DH ~ ;) A
