My sweet 17yo daughter came home from a movie tonight and relayed this story:

J (daughter) was on her way to meet a friend when she noticed a car stuck in the ditch. She stopped and asked if the driver needed any assistance, the woman said she had already placed a call to her husband. Before driving off J asked again-"are you certain you're okay?". The woman said "yes, just take my advice though, whenever you see an opossum-just hit it."

I laughed so hard-no wonder we see tons of them squashed around here! ~Andrea (P.S. J is so kind hearted...great kiddo-okay, almost young woman)

bsmitch	Mar 12, 2008 \| 4:38 AM PST People come first, possums come second down here in Kentucky. The roads are narrow and curvy and the cars coming toward you are using half your lane. Too bad critters. That happens every day we have to drive. Cook up some good ole road kill. Great story, have a great day and happy gardening. The hillbilly
dforrest60	Mar 12, 2008 \| 8:50 AM PST I just wanted to pass along a warning that sometimes the above situation can have tragic results. Several yrs ago, I was at the hospital one night with a friend who was having an asthma attack. Victims of a car wreck were brought in: an aunt and a 6 month pregnant niece. All 3 died that night because the driver swerved to miss a raccoon and hit a tree. I'll never forget that night.Please put people first.

JanetsFamily	Mar 12, 2008 \| 10:55 AM PST Your daughter is truly kind-hearted to stop and assist a stranger in that situation! When I lived in Louisiana I hit a few deer, thankfully I was unharmed, but my car suffered pretty badly.
garden98011	Mar 12, 2008 \| 4:19 PM PST Thankfully the gal maintained her humor in a less than perfect situation. Yes, we talked about what possibly could have happened i.e. injury to gal after dodging animal or J if she had gotten out of her car, use emergency lights whenever making a stop in the middle of a street, use cell to call 911 for assistance if gal was unresponsive-even if non medical problem exists etc.-it was a great lesson all the way around, especially since the gal was okay.
