My mom & I took a trip to a local nursery to purchase a palm tree for my friend whose dad passed away Monday. They have a tropical garden so I thought it more appropriate than sending flowers. While at the nursery, I was able to visit my tree ferns and thought I'd share a photo. The ferns are being loaned by the nursery for a display garden at the flower & garden show in Seattle, I will get them after and when ready to plant-April...At least we had a sun-break today. Woohoo!
I am also posting an interestingly trained C. armandi I saw on a drive. The owner had it trimmed so well and in a way I have not seen before.
Since I am not techno savvy and have no idea how to upload photos to this blog, the photos are posted in a new album labeled "miscellaneous".

That fern will be such a nice gift for your friend. I love tree ferns! That C. armandi is very interesting...I have never seen anything like that...thanks for sharing :) |

The palm is for the friend-ferns are mine! I should have been more clear, I had previously posted under Northwest forum asking about the hardiness of tree ferns in the PNW & forgot people reading this blog would not know that. My hesitation finally waned & I went to buy them, but they were already spoken (on loan) for until after the Seattle show...Sorry for the disjointed story!~Andrea |

oh, sorry...well, the palm will be a great gift :) and they tree ferns are FABULOUS! I used to have one, but here in zone 7b, they are not hardy and it would suffer everytime I brought it in, so I eventually gave up on it :( |

To load pictures from your album to your blog. Right click on image, after it has been enlarged from the thumbnail, a window will open and right click on property, another window will open with the HTML address. example. http://cdn-media.gardenguides.com/media/images/000000/78/91/ Nzg~ODkx_large.jpg Highlite it and copy. In the blog window you are writing in, there is a little square with a mountain and sun in it. click on it and another window will open with a slot to paste the image address, after you've done that click preview,your picture will appear in the preview window, then click ok.Wala, your picture is in your blog. Is that your banana shrub in the third picture? You are such a bad influence I went and ordered one too. When are you planted it? In ground or pot? 8 days to Garden Show!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Yes that is the banana shrub. Did you order yours on Ebay? I tried through Molbak's but nobody called back, this one was probably less $ & taller. I thought it would be planted near the bird cage-should I plant it in a pot?
