Today the guy from Trugreen lawn service came to 'access' my lawn. (Yes, i employ Trugreen to fertilize my postage stamp size lawn...i'm hopeless at maintaining good grass). This apparently is a new service they offer. Actually it's a ploy to sell more services like grub control, insect infestation control...blah, blah. However, the accessment was free. He told me my lawn was in A-1 condition. Good color, good length of grass, few weeds(better not be any!) and no thatch. He said mine was the best lawn and gardens he's seen in town. My plants were in amazing shape and my shrubs and trees looked to be in great health. A regular oasis he called it. He couldn't stop looking. It made me feel like i had accomplished my mission...a garden haven away from the world. Oasis...i like that.

What a compliment! That is what I am aiming for...maybe someday. Congratulations! Maybe you can add more pics of your gardens?

thanks Angel and Soap! i sure was stoked to get this compliment. it's great to have all your hard work validated.
Sweetle, i gave the 'wildebeast'(my funky old lawnmower) to the neighbor kid the day before. he wanted it for parts cuz i told him it didn't run. he managed to get it going(!)and mowed my grass for free. nice kid.:)
Bens, he tried to sell his services but i knew i didn't have grubs and so did he and my shrubs are fine. he even said so. he told me he had to offer these services anyway. it was his job. we had a chuckle over that and he left.

You must know the secret, Foz. Grass is still my biggest challenge, despite doing everything by the book. I'm watering much more this year, but I dug up a border edge today after two days of rain and the roots were bone dry!

Sweetle, it's my weakness, too. Remember that paver project i posted last year? the one where all my grass is dead?! i killed the entire lawn single-handedly and had to replace it. took forever, too. once i got it going again that's when i caved in and called Trugreen to fertilize and de-weed it. all i do is water, faithfully and well. i never knew just how much water a lawn needs! i had to learn the hard way.

Well I can attest to the fact that grass needs water and goes totally brown when there is none :(
Foz.. isnt it nice to know that guy probably went home and told his family about your yard and garden and it most likely made his day peacefull and pleasant!
