A visitor to my website is looking for the words to a poem her mother recited to her back in the 50's. It's about the native wildflower found in woodlands - Dutchman's Breeches. Four of the lines she remembers are:
Some little fairy Dutchmen
Went to take a bath.
They hung their little breeches,
On a stem along the path.
If anyone knows this poem, please let me know.

CICELY MARY BARKER HAS A BEAUTIFUL BOOK CALLED THE COMPLETE BOOK OF THE FLOWER FAIRIES -IT IS JUST ADORABLE AND I THINK THE POEM IS IN IT. I HAVE A COPY AT HOME BUT I AM AT WORK. I WILL LOOK FOR IT OR CALL YOUR LIBRARY AND REQUEST A COPY. SHE HAS SEVERAL BOOKS BUT ALL EQUAL THIS ONE LARGE ONE-I LOVE THE OLD TIMEY PAINTINGS SHE DID. HOPE YOU FIND IT-IF I CAN I WILL VISIT THE BLOG AGAIN AND THE POEM DAISYFAIRY--DIANA |
