And it was a beautiful morning. Sun alternating with clouds. A little mist of rain this afternoon. As I have said, this is my 3rd year in this garden. I transplanted a few things from my former garden and started some new plants. Last summer was hot and dry and not everything thrived. This is the first year for this iris to bloom.
Of course, I am very pleased with it. Here is a stand that grows beside the drive.
We inherited a fig tree.....it has quite a few on it this year.
Wayne says maybe he can get enough to make one whole cup of perserves.
The new garden I made beside the brick wall is filling in. I used mostly divisions from my existing perennials for this, as well as throwing in wildflower mix. It is coming along.
I am so interested in getting some butterflies and dragonflies to visit. Hopefully, wildflowers will do the trick. I sat for a while and watched the birds and just enjoyed the beauty of the day. I have a chair under a tree and this is my view of the back half of my back yard.
Tomorrow promises to be exciting, as I am going to visit another gardening friend and get a look at her yard. Isnt that so much fun, to see what other fanatics are doing. Good Night and Sweet Dreams.

Beautiful Irises! So, it took 3 years for yours to bloom after transplanting? Just wonderin' cause mine still aren't bloomin' this year and it's the 2nd year since I got them from my mom. I did move them from another spot in the yard in early March though. Could that have prevented them from bloomin' this year? Everyone in town has beautiful peach, purple, white, and yellow irises but me! |

Dont know, springy. I have some that still arent happy enough to bloom! I am going to move them to another spot. Dont give up hope, yours still may bloom. |

Personally, I wouldn't move them around if they are in their ideal spot to bloom. Moving them will just delay their comfort zone. Sometimes they will get too crowded and require digging and dividing, but it also may delay the blooming for a year. You have a great day and happy gardening. Bill Mitchell |

Love the Irises! Before we moved my iris bloomed nicely in full sun ans just a touch of afternoon shade! Love the Birdbath... did you paint it or is it mosaic? |

Make sure that the tubers are not covered up with mulch. It will keep them from blooming. |

Loved the pictures! I also have irises that took about 3 years to bloom and I agree with kohoutjm, if the tubers are to deep, they just seem to not bloom. I have one at my old house that is 3 yrs old. My husband saw it the other day and said it is huge and has beautiful blooms for the 1st time. Not much instant gratification in gardening is there? Thanks yall. They are definitely not too deep. The ones I am concerned about still have just a single fan or maybe 2 little fans....just not thriving. I think I have them in a spot that is too dry. The birdbath is painted. |

I love the little painted pots! Oh, your figs are bigger than mine. I'll not covet, though. |
