Oh my little babies are all coming up in the garden. The squash are all bunched together. The purple hulls are coming up like little soldiers. My butterbeans are being a little sluggish though, but they are gradually peeking out. I even have a few blooms on the tomatoes. I got the corn planted today...don't know a thing about corn, so it really is an experiment. I have a few strawberry plants in, and one watermelon plant to go. AND I JUST HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT WE MAY HAVE FROST TONIGHT!!!!!!! PLEEEEASE!!!

Well, I'm going to eat a little dinner and think about what I should do. I could never be a farmer for a living. The stress would kill me!

Let me go ponder this while I chew on my ham and biscuits. Trish

bsmitch	Apr 29, 2008 \| 4:39 PM PST Get up early before the sun shines on the plants. Spray them with a garden hose or sprinkle them from a watering can with cold water. This will melt the frost from the plants and there will be no damage. If the sun hits them and melts the frost, the plants will die. This is proven. Your friend, Bill Mitchell
RamblingNana	Apr 29, 2008 \| 4:50 PM PST Oh dear! I sympathize. Could you make a little tent with plastic? I bought a role of folded clear plastic when we needed to cover up all of our furntiure. It's not expensive. It's come in very handy. It is about four feet wide and folded in half ... so 8 ft if you want to use it unfolded. Wouldn't that keep the frost from touching the plants?
rockybane	Apr 29, 2008 \| 6:32 PM PST I've heard the same thing as Bill says, spray everything with water and melt the frost before the sun hits it and it will be OK. I have always been too lazy to try it out for myself, though. ;)
dirtdobber	Apr 30, 2008 \| 5:29 AM PST I ended up sprinkling this morning. Didn't have any plastic. Hope it is all ok. I'm not even sure if we ended up with frost, but I did it anyway. Thanks for the suggestions!!!
