I need help with this.
I just noticed that the leaves are not looking so good. At first I thought it was just an old leaf but then I lifted the dead part of the leaf and there were about 5-10 of these bugs on the leaf. They have wings and kind of look like little tiny wasps.
Are they eating my pumpkin? If so how do I get rid of them. HELP!

I'm not sure if its the same thing that has happened to my vine plants over the past 3 years ,but it may be. I had a vine borer worm that totally killed all of my squash pumpkins and cucumber plants. It winters in the garden and emerges as a wasp like bug in early June It then lays eggs on the leaves and vines of your vegetables (only vegetables with a vine). When the eggs hatch, a worm bores into the vine and kills the plants, which shrivel up slowly. I tried killing them using Sevin last year but was unsuccessful but its worth a shot. This year I planted my vine veggies just last week hopefully avoiding the wasp which I had seen a month ago. I looked it up online and there are other methods to kill the borer. Good luck. |
