happy plants.. A little cooler {humidity}because of the air coming in from Canada, but a hot sun.Still reached into the 80's yesterday. We brought the grill around back to where Jim was working on the deck, and cooked up a steak last nite.I said to Jim,just think, next weekend we won't have to do this anymore.Next weekend, the grill will be on top of the deck, and we can sit at a table, and enjoy the view and sounds of the yard.I bought a "Sun Sail" for shade cover-which is one of the reasons we opted for tall posts. We get morning sun till about 12:30,then the deck is in the shade. We start the deck boards sometime this morning,so exciting. While Jim is finishing up the last 2 joists and getting set-up,I'll go pick up some groceries..Jim will sand-I'll start staining.I think your not suppose to walk on it for 24-48 hrs after staining. The traffic was increased of course, because of the holiday. But usually by this morning, its calmed down, and everyone is where they want to be,and its almost like a ghost town.We know this is where we want to be.Maybe a few years from now, when the novelty of the whole experience has worn off, we may go camping at this time, but I think it'll take a few years to want to deal with the traffic.I'll water everything first thing this morning.Jim doesn't go back to work till wed.,so alot of deck will get done.A possible rain shower on tuesday, which would be fine as everything is so dry.My 3 Hosta are just huge, they always have been.I'm going to measure them across this morning,as I'm curious. We'll be building another hemlock bed for them alongside the shady side of the deck, along with the Black Co-Hosh.I'm still deciding what will flank the stairs coming off the deck. These are exciting times in our little corner of the world.I can't wait till I'm able to just sit on the glider and rock away-and figure out what my next move is.My 3 Lavendar needs attention. Its getting swallowed up by the tall grass, poor things.I'm glad I'll have 3 sides to build more beds & transplant my little friends. The Iris was just starting to open up yesterday, another shot of water and they probaly will.My Clematis is really full this year,so thats 3 more plants that will find a home near the deck on the sunnier side where I will be able to enjoy their beautiful blooms. It'll take the summer for building & readying the beds, and by fall its best to move the majority of them anyways. The sun is out,and a promising day ahead of us..
I know that you will be so glad when the deck is finished. That's what I do. I go sit down on my porch to enjoy the view and then I see something that I want to do. At least it's good exercise to keep running up and down the stairs. Enjoy the day.
