Flowers, trees and crops showing signs of stress

Well, still no rain for us and none really in the forcast for next week.. I think there is a slight chance of a pop up shower, but we will see..I am trying to concentrate watering on my perennials, but some are looking pretty sad. Our tomatoes cooking on the vine, the cherry tomaots are giving us a few to eat daily, but not for much longer. We might have to just go ahead and pull our tomatoes out, but we are trying to hang in there. Trees are dropping leaves already.

We have not had to mow the lawn for over 2 weeks now.. usually have to mow 2 x a week ! The weeds are evern wilty, So for now, perennials it is, but my daylillies are really drying up and I am hoping that they are just going dormant and not dying back. The farmers are really getting worried now, soybeans are not filling in and the corn shocks are curling and the bottoms fired up. Counties around us have had rain, but not here, when the rain comes it has gone mostly to the eastern part of Illinois.

Do a rain dance for us will ya??

chattycarnation	Aug 4, 2007 \| 1:00 PM PST Thaks for asking.. it is coming along really pretty good even if it is not as fast as I would like it too..LOL no strength, but maybe by fall I should be able to wwork a bit with it. Right now I am still doing most typing one handed.. seems like my fingers dont want to work quite right yet and 3 fingers are still numb. The older you get the longer it takes I suppose. I go to therapy and work out at home several times a day, I just have to be patient. No lifting yet, hubs is still doing the dished becasue I have no control over anything I try to pick up. He has been a big help and is a true blessing in my life. Guess I am not the only one dealing with drought and seems some places just get more than they need.. no balance in any of that!!
yardgranny6	Aug 4, 2007 \| 2:59 PM PST Some days we don't know what we will do with those hubby's and other times what would we do without them. My husband is disabled due to some nerve damage to the left arm and leg and then had a slight stroke a couple months ago and has weakness with the right arm and leg. He got a double whammy. He helps me with what he can do. He is not driving anymore and he has taken that really well. I was concerned he might be depressed over that but is doing well. I am so, to speak, the chief cook and bottle washer and yard person. Keep working on that arm, it will get better. Last edited by yardgranny6 on August 4th at 3:00 PM.
chattycarnation	Aug 5, 2007 \| 6:34 PM PST you have to keep going no matter what.. and cannot let things get the best of you! and having a pity party doenst make it better either,.. I hope your hubs gets to feeling better and regains as much use as he can, therapy is great. My dad had a severe stroke in 1988 and he got right to therapy once he could speak and swallow properly and he regained a lot.. except his speech.. his jaw just would not let go for him. Hang in there chief, I am sure you are an inspiration!

chattycarnation	Aug 6, 2007 \| 9:40 PM PST I chose that name in 1997 when I was chatting at another chat room.. and the name stuck. Glad you like it. I love carnations, although I am not growing any in my garden, I tried but kept losing them so gave up. We had some showers in the area, but no measurable rainfall. Tomorrow thru the weekend, no rain in the forcast, heat inex in the 107-110 range.. everything is pretty much cooking. :( High humidity adds to the discomfort of folks and critters.
