I got a whole bunch of free mulch from freecycle! It's all grass clippings, and it was enough to cover my new 10' x 20' vegetable garden. Perfect timing, becuase it's supposed to rain today and blizzard tomorrow. I love it because we don't have yard waste pickup yet, but it has been so warm that most people have already mowed their lawns. He needed yard waste pickup and I needed mulch.

damethod	Apr 5, 2009 \| 6:53 AM PST Grass contains lots of nitrogen. Perhaps too much. Be careful with using it as mulch on veggies or fruits. Excess nitrogen can cause the plants to produce more green than fruit and/or damage the plants. Try mixing in some more organic matter like tree leaves and wood chips.
