Potted tulips

When we go to the nursery or Lowes, we see pots of blooming bulbs for sale usually $6.95 or $7.95. I made my own this year. In the fall, I planted a pot with six tulip bulbs and then I buried it in the garden with about 1 inch of the pot lip above the soil line. This spring, when the tulips were up about 4 inches, I dug the pot and cleaned it and brought it to my porch. I planted it with bulbs I had saved from last spring, so it didn't cost anything. Here are three pictures for your enjoyment.

What kind of plant is that in the first picture, the one in the hanging pot? It looks so full. |

That is a Christmas cactus that Adam and Eve handed down years ago through my ancestors to me. It was the one that never bloomed for the 60 years while my mother owned it.After she pasted away, it bloomed 11 1/2 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer and has bloomed every December since then . That is a beautiful story about the Christmas Cactus, Bill. I have a similar one about a St. Christopher's medal. It's wonderful when we feel the presence of another's spirit in such a tangible way. |
