Patrick started off his day with lots and lots of dandelion pulling with our favorite new gardget http://www.hound-dog.com/weed
_hound.htm in our wild looking lawn.
After I returned from work we ate a quick lunch and headed out to a nearby greenhouse that comes highly recommended. I wanted to look around for inspiration, but of course we came home with a backseat of treaures :)
We were lucky enough to find a male and a female Arctic Kiwi! They are hardy enough for us here in MN and they are a perennial vine that grows up to 30 feet tall! Patrick is planting an awesome partial sun garden/shade under our deck. So far we have:
Male and Female Arctic Kiwi
Ostrich Fern
Cinnamon Fern
Scotch and Irish Moss
Lady's Mantle
Coral Bells
Astilbe (a red drooping variety)
Bleeding Heart
We went to a great plant sale last weekend, too, and bought a couple of mini hostas. Turns out that we already had a few clumps of variegated hostas in the rock garden out front - they just started poking up! So the minis will be an extension of the existing hosta display. We planted Lemon Delight, Jelly Bean, and Baby Bunting. I also planted a Dublin Elaine Daylily behind the hostas.
I put a row of hyancinths along our front door stoop - they smell so gorgeous! I alternated whites and blues.
I put a small patch of blue flax near the septic.
Pictures soon, sleep now :)
