We had a mama duck sitting on some eggs, and something got her, and the eggs. Hubby spotted a red fox the other night, so we are thinking that's what got her. I know it's just the chain of life, but I miss my little girl. She was such a good brooder for a Pekin duck, and now she's gone. We started with 7 ducks, and now are down to 3,
6 of them we icubated. :(

That is too sad..poor things...but like you say...the circle of life. Were they in a pen? I know chickens are kept that way...guess the ducks need to wander. So sorry too :-{ |

I too am so sorry...my cousin's duck are disappearing too. Slowly. She had 4 baby ducks and when I last talked with her she was down to one left. But her adults are still alive, just the baby ones she is loosing.I guess they can't defend too good for themselves. Sorry. |

So sorry to hear about your ducks. Our dh and friend has 6 of them that they raised and lost to coyotes. They had them until they became adults then lost them all. Turns out a neighbor was hunting coyotes and put bait out near their property line bringing the coyotes in and the end result was the coyotes got the ducks. |
