so sadly last friday while i was at work and my 13 yr. old niece was babysitting my girls...our dog, molly, got a hold of mumbles and killed him and a hen...i am so heartbroken...mumbles was such a good rooster....luckily we do have a baby rooster and 2 more females....no other rooster is going to be like him...we will miss him terribly...
update on wilbur...we are getting rid of him....he will be going to a nice farm with a lady friend :) where he will be much happier...
here are some pics of my garden...

I have pretty much always had to net my strawberry plants to get any berries. The birds pick parts out of them, but don't finish them. When it gets close to the end of the season, and very few set on, I take the net off and let them have some then.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. It really is hard when we grow attached to them and then something tragic happens.
Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Your strawberries look yummy!

I'm sorry about your rooster. It's so sad when we have to say goodbye.
As for your strawberries, have you ever tried netting over tomato stakes to keep the birds off? I'd like to taste some of those strawberries..lol. Take care, - Karen
thanks for all the comments...as far as the strawberries...i put up some pie tins and it is somewhat working to keep the birds away...and now we have 2 new roosters from the black hens...so all is good...i will get a pic of them up soon...
