hey all,
the female peacock got its foot caught in the door trying to escape the other day and well couldn't get it back out...it must of happened overnight and then a wild animal must of gotten ahold of it and ate half of it....my husband said it was a very gruesome discovery to say the least...
my daughter, who is 5, was sad of for about a few seconds and then said can we get another one...we just got these ones about 6 weeks ago...so we are looking to get another female from the same lady, who has got an extra one to get rid of....
i was really looking forward to have some baby peacocks next summer when they breed...

so today my husband calls me in the morning and asks me if i wanted 2 peacocks...i'm like i don't know do you? he thought the girls would get a kick out of them...i suppose they would! so after talking about them we decided to go ahead and get them from a lady at one of his stops...we ended up getting a male and a female...they look pretty cool kinda green and bluish in color...don't know a thing about them, but we will learn along the way...here are the pics i promised....

well i am off to a good start in my garden...my asparagus is poking through and a few of them are at least 2 ft. tall...this is my 2nd yr. for them...i am not sure if i am allowed to cut them this yr. or if i need to wait another garden season? help me out folks...i could sure use some expertise on this...as for me i am doing great my oldest will be in 2nd grade this fall and finally the day i have been waiting for since my youngest was born~KINDERGARTEN...there was a possibility that she would go to DK for 2 1/2 days a week or pass straight on through to the regular kindergarten class, which they are now doing all day everyday classes...well lo and behold she passed with flying colors...yay!! so that means i can go get a part-time job!! i am so excited about this...no kids at home!! now all i have to figure out where i want to work at...i am thinking menards...discounts on the garden dept. and everything else my husband loves about this store...what's a girl to do?
well i guess that about sums it up for now...and as for the weather beautiful, warm sunny days ahead....

hey all,
i know that it has been awhile since last time i blogged, but i'm still here trying to keep warm...we are expected to get like 6 in. of snow come saturday night in nw ohio...yeah...my girls are excited, but me not so much...as long as the roads get cleared off i'm fine with the snow...but don't really like driving on ice and slushy stuff...not so fun...everything around here is pretty much soggy and the maumee river is just about to flood over the banks...so hopefully with this storm coming everything with freeze up...the ground that is...right now i am keeping toasty warm by the wood fireplace and we have not even turned our furnance on...it is set at like 50 degrees and has not kicked on...which is good since the propane prices are way up...hoping to not have to use our furnance at all...it will save us a bundle...
until next time, amanda

last week we had gotten like 6 in. in one day and then it rained like everyday...i'm not even sure what the actual total was for our area, but i do know that we are practically drowning in it...my garden was loving it...well if you have seen my veggie garden you know that it is covered with pumpkins going everywhere...and really i do have cucumbers coming out of everywhere...i swear i pick at least 2 every couple of days...and i noticed that there is a huge vine that has at least 5 little cukes growing well...i picked my biggest cuke today....holy cow it was big...at least 8 in. long...o.k. that doesn't sound very good...LOL!!! but ya know what i mean....i didn't think my tomato plants were going to survive since the pumpkins totally overshadowed them, but i am pleased to say that they did SURVIVE and i have about 5 little green tomatoes growing well so i had to go buy some plant stands to hold them up...my indian corn is doing quite well too...i have 4 plants and they have at least 2~3 ears growing good on them...i also had watermelon growing in between the pumpkins and tomato plants and i truly thought they were a lost cause considering you couldn't even see them and they were getting no sun at all, but somehow they made it through to the other side of my garden and i have 3 watermelons growing well on the vine...yeah....and i guess that is all for now...all my pumpkins and gourds are still doing good...so nothing new there except more pumpkins are growing...i think i am up to 5 big jack o'lanterns now....well i will get some more pics up soon...

hey all,
well after our nice little shower we just had it is now so stinking muggy here...and sticky...loved the rain though it came down so steady...the garden was loving it...i think my pumpkin that i just took a pic of yesterday is now twice the size...i can't believe how big it has gotten...i am so excited...i know my garden doesn't look like much, but i am so proud of it for being my first garden ever...even though the pumpkins are taking over everything..(as you can see in the pics)...my dh asked my what i want to do with the garden and i was like what do you mean...he just wanted to know if i wanted to make it bigger...i was like i dunno...i just suggested not planting as much next year...and to put the pumpkins off to the side by the fence...so we will have to see what happens...i guess i wouldn't mind go bigger, but that means more work involved and i was hoping to keep it the size that i have right now until i get a little bit more experienced with gardening...

i have been searching for indian corn seeds since like late april and couldn't find any. so i thought i was out of luck. well lo and behold i found some indian corn plants at our local walmart. i was so excited and bought 4 of them last night. i got two planted today. the other 2 will have to wait until hubby gets home. i couldn't dig into our clay dirt around here...it totally sucks to have clay. so anyways i was thrilled to have found it and had to share.
