Dry weather and mulching
Jul 15, 2007 | 9:17 PM PST
Well, the weather here has been pretty dry. All the grass is pretty brown. This means it isn't growing, so my husband gets off easy in that he doesn't have to mow the lawn. We have city water, and our community has a partial watering ban in place. We are allowed to water every other day (according to the house address...even numbered houses get to water on even numbered calendar days, odd numbered houses on the odd number calendar days.)I make sure to water the garden on our allowed days, but my husband doesn't want to water lawn. This would be fine by me except that we use the grass clippings to mulch in between our rows in the garden. The mulch layers are getting pretty thin now, and the weeds are going crazy! I find myself spending more time than I'd like on weed control lately. But this is going to change very soon; the weather forcast is calling for stormy weather for the next 3 days. I'll be happy to get more grass clipping for mulch, but I don't know how happy hubby will be to cut the lawn again!
