Although the calendar says fall, the temperatures don't show it. Today was our 5th day in a row of over 90 degrees. In fact, it hit 96 today. Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it.
I've been trying to transplant a few things to new areas, and plant new goodies I got through great sales the nurseries have had this month. I picked up a Caryopteris, Japanese Aster, Gold Bar Miscanthus, and Speedwell, Sunny Borders. I did get the Speedwell planted, but the others are waiting until I find the right spot for them. I'm hoping the heat spell ends soon so they have plenty of time to get established before it turns cold. Tomorrow might be the best day since it will be overcast.
In spite of the challenges I faced with the drought, and record breaking temps, my garden is quite beautiful this fall. I like to go out early in the morning and wait for my hummer gal to greet me. She and the little dude will be leaving soon. They are the last two left of the eight that I had this year. One day soon, no sweet buzzing will greet me.
