Have a 7 foot magnolia tree that I planted to replace a storm damaged Palm. Occasionally leaves turn yellow. Is that normal?

Hey Rick only Mag tree I have is old and huge so I can't help you here. I think if you go down through the forums you will find the Tree/Shrub forum which would be a good place to ask your question. My magnolia is older and not new like yours, but magnolias drop their leaves in the spring and not the fall. My guess is that your tree is OK. My neighbor comes over to tell me every spring that there is something wrong with my tree because it is dropping it's leaves. The first year I lived here I panicked but now I see her visit as a part of the spring ritual. You can call your county agent to find out for sure. That's what I did my first year in my house and they had me send them soil samples. That's an option that you may want to consider. Last edited by gardenfun on March 10th at 7:57 AM. |

I had a 6ft magnolia tree, just planted last May, but it was getting yellow leaves and dropping some, I don't have to worry about it now, my cattle broke it off about waist high. Don't know if it'll sprout back out or not, but I have a feeling it won't. |
