So far so good. All our new plants are doing great. The red prayer plant is growing much faster than expect and closing up at night the way it should be. It looks great; nice and happy.
My heart leaf philodendron is perky as ever too. The funny little thing is growing like mad with lots of new leaves and just seems to want to go exploring already. LOL I just might have to consider a hanging basket to keep it from taking over the counter top.
Last but not least, Nanai's orchid is doing wonderfully too. I'm SO relieved about that one in particular. We bought it right before she left for Korea and will have been gone a month next week. I've heard that orchids are pretty tricky but it only lost one flower after being repotted and looks absolutely lovely. One of its stems is even growing up and leafy pretty fast.
That's all for now. I might put a couple updated photos up soon. ^_^
Happy growing!

Hi there! I'm Naomi.
I just signed up and boy am I glad I found this place. I LOVE plants, indoor and out but I tend to have a bit of a brown thumb. I've killed cacti. *sigh* I need all the help I can get! lol ^_^
Any way. My b/f and I just brought home our first house plants. He picked out the Red Prayer Plant and I fell in love with the Heart Leaf Philodendron. Mine seems to be thriving so far, growing new leaves and spreading out and just enjoying life. Renzo's Prayer Plant on the other hand seems to be choking or something. It is still a little chilly and dry in the house so we've been experimenting with humidity and light so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully there will be an improvement soon.
Also, I noticed that in the fresh veggie section of the Grocery here in Alaska, they play thunder sounds for the veggies. LOL That's new to me, a native Pennsylvanian. So, I thought, "Maybe that's good for house plants too." All our "kids" have been moved upstairs where it's a bit warmer and we have a Thunder CD playing for them. Counting Nanai's plants, there are now 8 house plants in the living room. ^_^
That's all for now. I'll post a few more pics, in a few weeks or so, of the "kids." With any luck, I'll also post some pics of my outdoor endeavors this year. I have some great plans for the yard this summer! I'm aiming for nature friendly plants that will attract butterflies and hummingbirds and I may even put up a bird house if I can get it out there soon. ^_^
Enjoy your day and Happy Growing!
