About LittleErnie

Gardening, plants and wildlife are some of my interests. Retired - sort of - because I seem to do as much work but for voluntary organisations - The friends of Peterborough Museum, The Elderly Peoples Forum, The Local History Societies Forum and the U3A (University of the Third Age) where I lead the Gardening Group. I am an engineer and computer scientist and worked at times for the European Commission and the International Federation for Information Processing. I am an avid plant collector and experiment. This year I am growing peppers - the big red ones. I have a collection of cacti and have mastered -so far- the art of growing alpines. I support CAMERA to ensure that beers are brewed naturaly and given time paint in water colours and run around after the family don't we all!

The Show
Since my last blog life has been full of events both happy and sad. With rain, wind and plenty of sun the garden now has a tropical look. The last weekend was the East of England Show. The best description is that it is similar to a State Fair. On th...

The Countryside
The first thursday of each month a group of us from the U3a visit a church for a tour and then have a cream tea. This week we went to St Andrews Church Lyddington and the tea was provided by the church ladies. The present church dates from the 15 cen...
