I have been gardening since I was about 7 years old.  I used to sit with my grandfather while he weeded his garden & he would talk to me about flowers & how to tell what was a weed & then how to pull it up.  It made a big impression on me!  My grandparents had a big flower garden, lots of cosmos, marigolds, zinnia's & things like that.  There was also a very large rose bush with tiny fragrant roses all over it.  I don't know what variety it was, but I loved smelling it!  Grandmother saved all the seeds & replanted every year.  So---when I was about 8, I asked my mother if I could use a little 2 by 5 foot space by the front steps to plant some things.  That was my start & my love for gardening & nature has continued & grown ever since.&#160

Everything is growing fast now, grass & weeds too!  We have okra, potatoes growing well.  The string beans I let go to long & are very tough!  Oh well, we're learning.  The blueberries are wonderful & the strawberries too.  I need to cover the strawb...

Looking for signs of spring!
Took a short walk around my yard this morning.  Found many signs of spring, buds on the fig tree, daylillies shooting up, gallardia blooming, a few buds on the seedless concord grape, and rose buds!  Here are two pictures.  What are you all seeing?  ...

It's cold outside! Brrrrr But, the sun is out very bright!
Sitting here at my computer, I'm looking out at my front yard.  It's mostly brown from the freezes we've had so far, but the sun is brilliant!  I did get out yesterday & fertilize the roses.  I know its early, but just had to!  They all have new grow...
