I was up pretty late watching the Celtics beat the Lakers.....(WoooHooooooo). For all I knew that was the extent of excitment in my neck of the woods....
Little did I know that Mother Nature was holding an initiation ceremony right in my backyard! I never heard a thing.
When I woke up this morning it was still very dark outside so I hadnt a clue as to what took place 25 feet from my back deck! On I went about my daily rituals....Shower, make-up, Hair, Hair, Hair. By the time I bathed the bod, rouged the cheeks and teased the tresses the sun had begun to rise. Thats when something out back was getting my attention. Time to get dressed and wait for my ride (I carpool now and this week I get driven...) and wait, and wait. Now I am circling the house looking out all windows and doors hoping to peep a beautiful bird or maybe if I am lucky enough a hummer!!! Then my phone starts buzzing someons texting me--its my ride. She is running late and is just leaving her house. OK that leaves me WAITING another 15 Minutes---UGHHH So I kicked off my heels and went for a nature walk out back. Thats when I saw what had happended over night. These beauties were NOT here when I kissed my flowers goodnight last night, I make fulll rounds and gree each one as I water and these babes were not here last night! I am so glad that they did decide to show up though. I had to fight the most primal urges not towhisk them up and take em' to work with me!!!
Oriental Poppies. This is what I found when I ventured into the backyard this morning! They are so much bigger and more blooms tonight!

OK so now I dont want to go sleep or to work - i just wanna watch my gardens and watch the blooms ....just happen.
I wish my days were as magical as their nights are!

What a wonderful morning gift :) My husband carpools now too- gas is just too darned expensive! |

I love those Oriental Poppies. When my son was around two years old, he leaned over to 'sniff' the flower and instead he softly blew into it. He came up with a face full of black pollen. It was really funny looking. Didn't faze him in the least. Linda B |

Your backyard garden is truly beautiful and has a sculptured look to it, well organized and landscaped. Mine is a bit here and there and planted too close together, but it's beautiful also. While you are rooting for your Celtics, I was rooting for my Lakers. They almost won towards the end but almost is just that, almost. I am so envious of your garden. As Bill said, it has a sculpted look and just beautiful. I wish I had taken the time to design my garden but as it is said, haste makes waste. Now I have to live with my cemented backyard. |

You have a lovely garden!! You did a great job organizing plants and showcasing them all! Thanks for sharing:) What are the purple blooming mounded plants? And I have the same shaped birdbath in one of my flower beds!! Last edited by chattycarnation on June 10th at 6:20 AM. |

Thank you all so much--I must admit the garden is a complete work in progress. I transplant and replant on a weekly basis--its like i'm obsessed (!!!). The plants talk to me and i hear them talking to each other, some are rather catty and have to be moved before they spoil. I am not happy until they are all getting along. Plus did I mention that I like to sit and look at my gardens, i am merely plotting my next move while sitting and looking. I so enjoy sharing and I also love looking at everyone elses pics--thats inspiring! Chatty those purple mounds are geraniums, Johnson's Blue. I bought 6 plants about 12 years ago from the Michigan Bulb Co (mail order) they were little twigs and I have divided them about 95 times so far! They get so big I have to use my hedge trimmer to trim them back in July and then again in August--this gives me purple blooms from may to October--then they turn Reddish orange in the autumn--its gorgeous--i will be happy to share them if you'd like to PM me.
