Well the weather folks have done it again! We have yesterdays forecast today! Cold, Grey and Gloomy! Yesterday we pulled one over oon them though--this was their forecast for yesterday and we ended up with SUN / 70's!! It was such a delight. Warm sunny breezes that no-one predicted.
I had to offset the gray glooms by popping some cinnimon buns in the oven--It Worked!! :) I chuckle while looking at the temps in the low 40's and the fuzzy cold mist in the air (gross!!) - My morning glories and Moonflower are crawling out of their peat pots - I only planted them last weekend and they sre sooo leggy. Looking to underplant the clematis' and other flowering bushes that loose their color early--hoping to extend the garden color well into fall!
Being so gloomy outdoors opens up opportunities indoors. I will spend the day reviewing my notes from last year - making those changes I founjd so necessary to make when the gaardens were blooming and I couldnt move anything--I will plot those changes now. Mostly just color coordinating and choreographing the symphony of blooms.
Update on the second most important thing in springtime. RED SOX 4 / Yankees 3!!!!! Celtics 99 / Hawks 89!!!!!YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Boo that Bruins lost to the Canadiens again! Habs 3 / Bruins 2 (in O/T).
Jimmy Johnson (#48) won the SUBWAY 500 in Phoenix with awesome fuel conservation. My beloved Dale Jr (#88) finished with a solid 7th place finish (he didnt fare so well on the fuel calculation--but not a bad finish)
I will be cheering on the SOX and BRUINS again today--GO BOSTON!!!!

Oh, and a NASCAR fan, too. Can't get better than a gardener and a sports fan all rolled into one! |

I luv the Saturday night races--usually I am sunburned (from being outdoors all day Saturday) and you know if the race was on last night you are free to induldge in that Sunday long project the next day. We have a radio channel that plays the races live - so I could just as easily listen while I putter about--but I need to see the crashes too! |

Yankee NASCAR fan is an oxymoron. Are you a transplant from down here in the south, where redneck NASCAR fans usually live? Oh well, being a gardener, I guess it's OK. You have a great day and happy gardening. The Hillbilly |

Yes my friend I was raised on the tracks up here! Stock Cars, Mods, Midgets, however I never considered myself a redneck.I was a rink rat (Mom & Dad ran a skating rink, and us kids spent our days doing double axles and slapshots) Our family hobby was dirt tracking on the weekends. What a release that was. I cant enough of NASCAR I am so happy that it has reached the level of notariety that has. Everyone I know - now knows what EARNHARDT means |

We had 70's yesterday as well, just finished spreading my compost in the rain-sooooo dirty! Do you use Euphorbia in your garden? There are many that lend color through September in our neck of the woods plus great for underplanting Clematis.~Andrea |

Haha Andrea, Do I use Euphorbia! No Euohorbia uses me--it grows like a weed (loves em)! I started using in my Dr Suess Garden--whihc is where I keep everything that spikes or curly queues--or appears to faces--its a highlight! I do like to pick it and pair with Bleeding hearts and lilacs--it has the most gorgeus chartreuse foliage that makes the hot pink and lilac pop--really pretty in bouquets. Hey Steroeman, You got that right--Sox take the series B2 NY1...Cant wait until the next round. Manny goes yard last night in the 9th against Cleveland--take that! Who is your favirte team? Just Me, One word HENDRICKS! I must say that when Dale jr signed as thier teammate I wasnt sure what to think, but I knew he had no chance at DEI with Teresa at the helm--my shock/surprise/dismay turned to hope and delight rather quickly, then he won the bud shootout and dominated Daytona I have been Hendricks biggest fan since, I am certain his Father would agree with the change and bigger things are yet to come. I hope you all are having a great week and Bill thanks for the lovely message, so glad to be friends..:) |
