About Herman

Me and my wife Yvonne are the proud owners of Soekershof; Private Mazes & Botanical Gardens in South Africa.

Soekershof (just google to find out more) is everything a (botanical) garden should be; a place of calmness, humor, education, relaxation and contemplation.

Not a (botanical) garden which has to generate its income out of restaurants, 'craft' (?) shops and coffee corners at the entrance.

We have chosen for the pure 'down to Earth' approach; unusual but once people have taken the first step to visit they are coming back.

Our succulent gardens (with the oldest -anno 1910- cactus in South Africa) are a display of over 2400 different succulents from all over the world under the open sky and we cultivate, in principle, fully organically without he use of fertilisers and other chemicals.

We also have a maze. This Klaas Voogds Maze (13870 sqm net surface) is also unusual. Not because of its size but also the concept behind.
