Grow Plants... Grow!
May 6, 2008 | 3:29 PM PST
Everything is growing and sprouting and turning more and more green everyday!! Fortunately we have had several wonderful days of sunshine, but rain is expected again by Thursday.
Most of the leaves are out of the yard now, we probably have 2-3 more big bags and that will be that (until September, anyway).
My tomato plants are getting bigger and the brussel sprouts are getting a LOT bigger -- I think we're going to have to buy new larger pots for them sometime soon and move them over. I had no idea those things became almost like small trees!!
Some of the tulips I planted are starting to poke their heads out and I'm so glad -- I knew it was too late and that by planting them in the spring, they would not bloom -- but I was hoping that they would grow and that the leaves would collect enough energy before this fall so that they would die back and bloom next spring -- and I think that's what's happening :)

3 of 12 gladiolus broke soil yesterday :) No sign of the stargazer lilies yet (but... ok, ok, I did just plant them 4-5 days ago, lol) The asian lilies came back with a vigor and look much larger (or spread out?) than they were last year when I planted them -- no lilies yet, that comes leater, but the plants look wonderful and happy and healthy.
The azaleas I moved last week have a ton of new growth... they seem to be much happier in the shade. I also planted 2 more near them today -- we got them on sale 2/$5
The foxglove are blooming away -- and so is the red valerian, but still no sign of my hibiscus. I really hope it comes back.
I did, however, try my hand again at growing from seed. I planted several types of hardy hibiscus, fushia and lilac butterfly bushes, and mollypop vines... I hope they germinate and grow :) I have never gotten past the seedling stage.
Compost is coming right along and I have started cleaning the leaves from the neighbors yard too... my books are not here yet, but should be by next week... and by then, the vast majority of "work" in the yard will be finished so I can relax, watch everything grow, lay back on the hammock and enjoy them :)
