The daffs are to the right of the picture. Alyssium will bloom also, it's in front of the red tulips.

Here's my veggie bed. We were going to move it to a corner of the garden but I just don't have the strength. We had a plan for putting it in the middle...still do but it's going to take a while to put in place. Yes, I have no grass anymore because of the dogs...I don't really care..lol We still have to remove more weeds around the bed itself. We're going to be planting the cold weather crops soon like carrots etc and in a few weeks, we'll be planting the rest. I'm still debating weather to get extra small netting to attach all around and on top and I still need to figure out an easy way to open one of the sides fully or maybe we'll do it so we can open both sides. I haven't decided yet but need to! Any other bird deterring ideas?
Someone said pinwheels.. We're going to be planting a bunch of things, I can't even remember what we bought now. I hope we can make it work this year!

My flowers in my tulip bed are blooming!
Showwinner Tulips:
Some croccuses:

Hyacinth:
Another tulip:

And one of the daffs:
Grow!! Grow!! Dang it!
Well, I can't be too hard on them, they are on the North side of the house. It takes them a little longer to grow. I'm glad they are growing at all. The whole bed was a gamble with a few sun loving varieties but I really wanted it there.
We have plans for a veggie garden and hopefully, we will have growth, no varmints or birds. I have a plan to prevent it all. First, we have to move the whole raised bed...I have extra shovels, who's coming over? We'll be doing a whole lot of cleaning up the beds next week during Spring Break. There's alyssum under there..somewhere...
p>
Might need some of this after all the gardening :)

I love these! They make me happy and it's a sign that other things are gonig to bloom.
I went MIA there for a while, my school work and soap business kept me super busy and my garden suffered. I need to do a lot of cleanup this year and then see what I need to add next year. I'm afraid of what may have died etc. We'll find out soon enough.
I missed you guys and missed seeing everything growing and blooming.
So here they are, my first flowers for 2011!
We had a huge blizzard here and when the snow melted, this is what I found:

>
I love all the new flowers that are blooming and that have never bloomed before. I took this pictures super fast so they aren't the best but here you go!!
Here's the floxglove.
Astilbe (these did bloom last year but barely had color)
>

Here's one of my hydrangea plants that has been clinging on to life for the past 2 years. The picture isn't so great but this is the first year it has grown this big and flowered!!! The other plant on the other end is still tiny in comparison.
Lavender!
Here's a shot of the bed. So happy with it! (click for a bigger picture)
What a beautiful day it is outside today! So here's my "New Bed". Everything is blooming! I didn't get the whole thing but this is the majority of the color.
Here are the roses against the trellis located on the fence on the right.
This is a rose from another bush in the middle of the bed.
I forget what these are but they sure are pretty!
Close up!
This is part of the tulip bed. I'm thinking about cutting all the crocus leaves. Wonder if that's a no no.
I love my garden! I have to weed already though but here's stuff that's growing in my own little garden. I am so excited!! Things have taken off this year!
Bleeding heart!
My cherry tree in bloom

Here's a robin wondering why the bird bath isn't filled up

Here's the lavender starting to grow.

the vinca that never even grew last year is floweing now!!

Wow guys! I missed you guys! I've been so swamped with everything!
I still have Snow (dog from my previous entry). Her and Phoebe (the one in my avatar) do not get along :( We may try to work on them but as it stands now, Snow will have to find another home. I was hoping it could maybe be a foster-permanent situation but maybe not. I don't get it because they got along so well the first few weeks.
Other than that, I cleaned up my yard this week and I'm seeing some green!
Here are my firefly crocuses that came back again! They bloomed for 3 weeks. So nice to have some color after so much rain and snow!

Looks at my lavendar!!

Roses getting some leaves. I hope that's a spider's web. I didn't see that until I uploaded the picture.
Here'
s the front bed looking all dead but I see green coming in! This is a "before" shot
And something new! A weeping ornamental cherry tree. We just put it in last week.

This is a post and it's really an update of a post I made on several forums I frequent. Basically, this dog was on death row and I was scrambling to have someone who could take her in. I saw her yesterday and that was her last day so I sprung her. I don't have room in my house for her and the only reason I was able to spring her is because of a rescue here in town. More explained below.
She needs a home. I am willing to drive a ways and there may be the possibility of transportation relay to get her to someone who would give her a forever home. Please send this to as many people as you can. This isn't a scam, *I* got her out of the shelter. (it's not a friend of a friend of a friend)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Ok here's the deal guys:
I went to got her and took her to a rescue that is run by the lady who owns the dog daycare I take my dogs to from time to time. She's going to stay at the vets office (next to the daycare) until next week and then I will have her over thanksgiving (everyone is fully booked on boarding). After that, she'll go to the daycare.
She was scheduled to die tomorrow morning.
She is super friendly. She had a lot of energy but that's probably because she didn't get much exercise at the shelter. When I was driving in the car, she wanted to sit in my lap. She would sit up and look around. I could tell that she's never really been out of her backyard. She was looking around, scoping the new sites. Then she would just lay her head in my lap.
She is probably about 1. She's a small dog (well compared to my 60 pounders). I'll get her weight etc. She probably won't get much bigger than she is but just muscle out. She already got her shots (I'm going to call tomorrow to try to schedule a spay before thanksgiving so she can use the time with us to recoup.) She is more than likely not potty trained.
Her story is that she kept getting out of the yard and animal control kept picking her up as a stray and taking her home and one day, the owner just surrendered her.
She apparently is good with other dogs. She had been in kennels with other dogs.
No other info but I'll know more after she stays with me.
These people are doing this as a favor to me and are not charging me. I am however going to donate the money I'll get back from spaying her and pay for whatever costs incur until she gets adopted. These people are wonderful and if they have room, they will take dogs in at no charge. Please consider donating to these wonderful people if you can (http://www.tulsadals.org
/)
Ok so back to Snow! I'm not sure if they would charge an adoption fee but I want to say no or minimal.
And I will have questions if you are interested!
Here are some pictures I took in the car.
Her body wasn't under her but on the other seat. She was laying down on me.
You can see she isn't huge. She's all white with just a bit of brown on her eyes and a tad on her ears.
Hi guys! It's been a while! I haven't been doing much of anything garden wise. Just trying to maintain. I didn't have money for more tulips this year so we will see what the squirrels have left for me come March.
I started school again and that and the fibro/cfs is kicking my butt. I am not doing as well as I should and I hope to at least finish well and move on to next semester. Only 2 more semesters to go after..I am so close I can taste it!
I'm making soap a lot too and it's really become an outlet for me and it's wonderful!
So here are pictures of the yard. It doesn't look like much but I am happy about it. I lost a few hostas and one of the dead nettles. I'm not sure if I lost them because of the crabgrass or the stupid ants that have decided that the plant center is a great place for the opening to their nest. I really need to fight those ants next year, they are everywhere but thankfully not in the house!
You can't see much because of the leaves that have started to fall. I wanted to get a pic before but I failed. To the left is my tulip bed with a few others in front of it. Other than the tulips, nothing really bloomed and that whole bed was a gamble since most of the plants need sunshine that they aren't really getting there but I will wait and see if they bloom next year. They did grow like crazy and I see runners everywhere! Really happy with how they are spreading!
Along the house/fence, you can see a few of the rose bushes that are doing well. I'm wondering about the one int he corner because there only seems to be one live stem basically and I was hoping for more to go on the trellis. My daughter loves to go dead head her roses and they just keep blooming!
Other things that didn't do so hot this year were the fox gloves and all the other plants that were supposed to grow but I think it was just so hot when I planted them that they were more focused on surviving. They only really started growing in September and things took off so I'm expecting more next year.
You can see my neighbor's beautiful Japanese maple. She gave me a seedling that I planted close to the fence behind where the Jeep is but I may move it next year. The bird bath is still there and not replaced with a bench yet (lack of funds).
These are out of focus but my lavender is growing! I'm so happy! They are a gamble as well because they need sun. Sometimes I can smell them but not often. I can't wait for them to grow more. It's amazing how you get plants that are so little and they just thrive and grow.
Here'
s another view. I know it doesn't look like much but we are going to see what grows, what doesn't and move things the following year, and if we need to, we'll add to the bed then. Seems like so far, I've done ok with spacing.
Here's the other bed. My azalea is beautiful and has grown so much! The iris exploded and is huge! I already know I'm going to have to move the plants I planted behind it because they are small plants! The witch hazel had a hair cut a few months ago and is doing fabulous. Slowly but surely, it's growing. I'm trying to get it to look more like a "tree" but I don't think it's going to work. It has a bunch of flower buds on it and I hope this years flowers will be nicer than last years since it has had time to establish itself now. I also won the war on crabgrass in that bed. There are still a bit there but I tore out so much of it! It was all the way to the witch hazel tree. I'll have to be more diligent next year.
Since I don't really have the money for mulch or a truck to get free mulch (or a friend with a truck), I'm going to let the leaves stay on the first bed since that's where they all land and congregate and just buy a few bags for the azalea and other bed.
We are planning on buying 2 cherry blossom (ornamental only, no fruits) for the front yard but I'm not sure yet where they will go. I think in time, they will add nice shade to that area since that bed actually gets too much sun believe it or not. Those plants are all shade plants and they sure struggled in the summer.
So that's it for me! A few more pictures of my other addiction:
Here's another picture of the lavender and the roses. We have 2 flowers now on the lavender..hehe
Thirdgeneration:you were right. It's called a "pink beacon" sedum. (Sedum ussurience)
Your little hint helped me find it again!
>
Well i haven't updated for a while. I went out and cleaned a bunch in the garden beds this weekend.
Some of the things seem to have died and I hope it's not permanently but I'm worried. Some of the lungwort and dead neettles look bad.
The Iris finally bloomed
>I don't remember what these are but they are beautiful:
Here is the other bed, some roses
Our first lavender flower...awwww (sorry for the blur)
Here is the other flower bed. As you can see, I am waging war against crab grass. I unfortunately didn't weed for a few weeks and they took over. I got rid of a lot but still have that section to do. You can see the dead nettles dying. I hope it's normal. We'll find out next year I guess! My mystery flower from the previous post also were all faded so I cut those to the stem. I'm winging it here folks. We'll see what happens.
And my new hobby:
T
he one on the right had partial gel (i tried to prevent it to see the different..didn't work cause of the honey)
Lots of things have started blooming over the last few weeks. I wish I had taken a picture of the bleeding hearts! I only had 2 blooms but I'm hoping it will bloom again.
Here is the new bed. I need to stake that lily tree and start getting the roses to the trellises. I won't be filling that bed until the fall. I'm going to extend them to the driveway. The plants that I had on the left have died (I can't even remember what they were right now. I'll have to look on my paper).
Until I get a bench, I put a bird bath there. The bird bath will eventually move to the back yard when I start on that in the next few years.
Here's my other bed. I'm not sure what to do with the witchhazel, should I thin the bottom so it looks more like a tree. I also need to stake those tall flowers which I don't remember what they are either.
Ligularia blooming nicely
I don't know what these are:
Dianthus, they are so tiny and danty and so cute.
2 of the 7 rose bushes:
I had hoped the astilbes would have been taller but hopefully next year they will be taller.
We still miss our Isis but it's easier and I want to thank everyone for their kind words.
My beautiful Isis,
You came into our lives unexpectedly and you left us unexpectedly too.
I remember that cold November night. It was the first real cold weather
we had in 2006 and you were telling the whole world how unhappy you
were walking down the street. I laughed thinking "boy, she is really
telling everyone about something!". I was helping someone to their car
with their stuff after a scrapbook night we had at my place.
A little while later, someone else left and I opened to the door and saw you on my welcome map staring up at me.
I decided that I would give you water and some food but that was it.
While you were drinking, I checked your paws and you were declawed. You
belonged to someone! I took you inside vowing to find your owners.
We posted ads, fliers, alerted the vet....nothing. No one claimed you.
The vet said you were old, at least 7 or 8.
Well I don't feel too good today. I thought going outside in the sun would help but it hasn't. I feel worse. Ugh, I hate feeling crappy.
I'm going back to the doctor on the 29th and I'm going to ask him to tell me what's going on and give me a diagnosis. This has been going on almost a year now. Fibromyalgia and CFS are the only things left on the table and they actually both fit. I've been having a feeling that the CFS is coming to the forefront because I haven't really been hurting and now I'm more and more tired. They seem to take turns. My doctor isn't doing anymore tests so I don't know what he's waiting on.
I went out and moved all the wood that was on the patio that I had cut to size months ago. I finally put it in the shed.
My friend gave me 2 tomato plants and a cucumber plant so I took those and planted them in the veggie garden that I haven't moved like I had planned to. I'm pretty sure I am not going to get to it this year. I'm not sure that where I want to put it is any better than where it is. I need to watch the sun this summer.
My blueberry bush survived. We'll see. I made a makeshift way to keep the dogs out of it...hopefully. They killed the veggies last year, hopefully, they won't get in it. I don't think I have the strength for anymore than just the tomatoes and the cucumber. We'll see how they do.
I moved the wisteria though. I know it's not the right time and it's not good to move it. The plant is about a year old. Unfortunately since some of the roots were going under the veggie box, I had to cut a few big roots. I pruned it too since I had to cut the roots. We'll see if it lives or not. It's where I want it now. I ran out of money before I could buy a trellis for it but that's ok....I don't need it quite yet.
I have more blooms in the front, the bleeding heart has 2 small blooms on it! And other things have bloomed as well.
No pictures today, I'm just not up to it.
Just my whiny pity party :/
