About BrownThumb

I like to grow veggies and fruit the most. My garden is being slowly choked for sunlight due to highly successful oak trees. :-(

I am growing some ornamental grasses and lavender plants (out front) for the curb. Success is mixed - I keep losing my purple fountain grass over the winter. Echinacea/purple coneflowers bloom once and never return. Grrr.

I have great success rendering otherwise successful plants null and void.  I am still climbing the learning curve and recently got serious about building a compost pile 6ft x 9 ft x 2.5 ft high.

Getting enough sunlight is now a challenge so I am seeking to move to containers where I can.
