I've got multiple varieties of Bamboo growing aroiund my home. From contained fast growing short , bamboo Negra (black bamboo) to I believe fastuosa (?) which grows 18-35' tall.

Anyone interested in sharing clean root starts and trading varieties ? Have to be sent I suspect via bare root due to cross border / state issues with bugs but should do fine in this state I'd think. Or those local to Seattle willing to share pics or starts? Lets connect :)

divaqs	Apr 17, 2007 \| 9:09 PM PST Do you have any bamboo varieties with excellent (sweet) flavored bamboo shoots? I have Phyllostachys Dulcis bamboo. "Commonly called Sweetshoot Bamboo for its tasty shoots early in the season. It is among the most beautiful with its masses of large drooping leaves, thick culms and a white ring at each node. It is very quick growing and gets very thick for its height, up to 3 inches in diameter at 30 feet in height. It is hardy to minus 10 F." Beautiful	Apr 22, 2007 \| 6:54 PM PST Hey Divaqs, No I don't have any Sweetshoot! Sounds beautiful though ! If that it behind the gazebo ? I'll get some updated shots of our deck / walkway / grotto project up .. way overdue! The bamboo avages 18'- 25' , the Ivy is OMG almost all the way across the top of a 10x10' grotto area ... and the wisteria that were just babies are in bloom! :) http://www.hearttouched.com/Deck/ -- sans the present growth. I'll get them out there :) take care ..
divaqs	Apr 22, 2007 \| 9:24 PM PST Wow, incredible job on the deck, walkway, and grotto! Yes, my sweetshoot bamboo is behind the gazebo in the picture. The 5 starts I planted are now 2 years old, so I am expecting a lot more growth this year. Do you by any chance of any of these varieties: Phyllostachys nidularia 'Smoothsheath' Phyllostachys flexuosa Phyllostachys nuda Phyllostachys vivax (vivier's bamboo) I am particularly interested in the bamboo varieties that are considered excellent for eating. :) Kate, I didn't know it was you until I saw your website. Do you know which of your co-workers I am? :)
