It's that time of year again! Bulbs are blooming, tubers are putting up their first shoots - veggie gardent sprouts of hardy items are coming up ...
and SLUGS are on the move! So how do YOU combat them? Slime trails, beer baths, salt licks, poisons? What have you found that really works for those unattended garden spaces?

This year I plan on getting 3 ducks, which just love eating slugs. In the past I've tried slug bait, but then worried about my kids and pets. I've tried beer traps, but those are a lot of work and messy to maintain from week to week. I've tried copper stripping on the sides of my garden beds, but my kids always seemed to eventually get at it, so it never lasted. So, now I am going to try ducks. This way I can keep my garden organic and even get some eggs out of the deal. |

I have to admit someone told me to put some shallow saucers out in the garden with beer in them at night and in the morning they have crawled into the saucers & once I retreived them into a ziploc bag they smother in there. As the season goes on you get fewer and fewer showing up in the morning. Good luck, keep us posted. |

LOL , Hopefully they will drown in the beer (what I heard) and I won't have to scoops them into anything but a hole! Thanks Pinky! |

Hmmm didn't know they liked slugs! Wish city ordanence (sp) would let us have a few -- maybe it's why I grow sacraficial broccolli ! LOL So they leave the rest of the garden alone |
